£250,000 INVESTMENT UP FOR GRABS

311

Entrepreneurs and start-ups invited to pitch.

Mustangs’ Corral, a new feature at BETA International, will see three early-stage businesses pitching for a share of £250,000.

The investment initiative was launched earlier this year by HLM Investment Group founder David Mitson who will sit on the judging panel at the show.

His fellow Mustangs are investor and Childs Farm founder Joanna Jensen and Michael Darley, the international sales agent from Country Direct.

“The HLM Investment Group has up to £250,000 ring-fenced for equestrian and pet sector start-ups and early-stage businesses,” says David.

“But the support isn’t just an investment opportunity; it’s also mentoring, commercial and operational support, and being able to learn from and benefit from the connections and network within the industry.”

Joanna Jensen says she looks for three things when considering investing: “A great product or idea that has already been made and tested in the marketplace, a strong business plan, and a robust, driven, capable, ambitious founder.”

Michael Darley adds that Mustangs’ Corral is “a real opportunity to grow a brand both in the UK and internationally.

“We’re a smallish industry, but incredibly passionate and well connected,” he says. “If you have a genuinely good idea, listen to the trade and build the right relationships.”

At BETA International, each candidate has ten minutes to pitch to the Mustangs who will then question them for ten minutes.

Visitors can watch Mustangs’ Corral on the Seminar Theatre stage at the show on Sunday 27 September from 3.45pm.

Event director Liz Omesher added that the venture was “something that has never been done at BETA International before.”
