Sustainability is inherent in everything we do.”

Dengie has achieved the top rating in a national environmental accreditation scheme for the third consecutive year.

Investors in the Environment assesses key areas of organisations’ environmental management systems. The Essex based feed company has been awarded its ‘green status.’

Dengie has been recognised for driving down emissions, in particular electricity, natural gas and carbon emissions, and has undertaken projects to enhance the environment and support the wellbeing of its staff and the local community.

The company’s waste reduction initiatives include returning waste packaging to the supplier for reuse or recycling, installing machines with longer product runs, undertaking regular line checks and maintenance, and reusing waste products where possible.

Dengie says it’s looking into setting up a recycling collection scheme for its used feed bags through retailers.

“Sustainability is inherent in everything we do at Dengie,” says managing director Ian Hassard, “and our recent achievements reflect the importance we place on continually striving to be more efficient.

“Achieving green status with Investors in the Environment for the third year running is great recognition of the work the team at Dengie is doing to ensure that we continue to produce the highest quality feeds in harmony with the environment.”
