COMPANY’S £25K BIRTHDAY GIFT

400

Five-figure sum marks a milestone.

Bedmax has made its 25th anniversary a memorable one by raising £25,000 for the hospital that saved the life of one of its employees.

The team from the bedding company has walked, run and cycled to support The Freeman Hospital Heart and Lung Transplant Association (FHLTA) where its production development manager Tony Robinson had a lung transplant.

Bedmax operations manager Olivia Leyland, Matilda Smalley and her father, managing director Tim Smalley, cycled from Hampshire to Northumberland to raise £25,000 for The Freeman Hospital in the company’s 25th year. Also pictured is transplant beneficiary Tony Robinson who drove the support car.

Managing director Tim Smalley, his daughter Matilda Smalley and operations manager Olivia Leyland led the charge by cycling from Bedmax’s production plant in Andover, Hampshire, via its Nottinghamshire factory and The Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, to their Northumberland head office.

Others took part in the Great North Run and a ‘walk around the world’ challenge.

“To see the whole Bedmax team and so many of our customers come together to support such an incredible cause is truly humbling,” said Tony.

“I hope this contribution helps other patients and families going through similar journeys and makes a real difference to the vital work the hospital continues to do.”

The £25,000 raised will help support transplant patients and their families, as well as on-going research.

Thanking Bedmax, Louise Mclellan of FHLTA said: “We’ve loved following your year of activities. Without the support and efforts from people like you we would be unable to carry out our vital work which gives hope and support to so many people and their families.”

Tim Smalley, who founded Bedmax in 2001, added: “We’re incredibly proud to have reached our £25,000 target in our 25th year.

“This was a true team effort across the business and from our customers, friends and colleagues, and it reflects just how much Tony’s journey has meant to all of us.”
