Funding “could turn dreams into reality.”

In a nod to Dragons’ Den, a successful industry player is giving equestrian start-ups the chance to win up to £250,000 in funding.

David Mitson is inviting fledgling equestrian enterprises to pitch for up to £250,000 investment.

David Mitson, owner of HLM Investment Group and the man behind the evoke and Science Supplements brands, is inviting fledgling businesses to pitch.

He’s offering investment, commercial support and expertise to fast-track young firms’ growth.

After a preliminary application process, selected businesses will get to ‘sell’ their ideas live to a panel of experts in a bid to secure equity investment and business mentoring.

“The opportunity is primarily aimed at start-up or early-stage businesses in the equestrian and pet sectors,” David told ETN.

“There are so many great entrepreneurs, with great products and vision, but a lack of funding or commercial and operational support to turn their dreams into reality.

“We’re really excited about it as it’s not limited to just one [successful applicant]. We may get a number of smaller companies or one larger one. Who knows?”

Candidates should register their interest before 15 January by emailing investment@hlm-group.com with a brief introduction to their business and aspirations.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted in January, with panel interviews taking place in March.
