Nick Wilkinson has joined the team at Walsall Leather Skills Centre as director (operations).
The centre was set up in 2020 by the Worshipful Company of Saddlers to train leatherworkers.
Nick is a former soldier who first came to the Walsall Leather Skills Centre while moving from military to civilian life. He’s now responsible for its practical day-to-day running.
“Over the past two years, the centre has given me a community and a real sense of purpose,” said Nick.
“It’s incredibly special to use my military career skills in leadership, planning and resource management to contribute to it, to help it - and its community - continue to grow and develop.”
Walsall Leather Skills Centre trains novice and experienced leatherworkers from the UK and overseas. Training covers bridlework, saddlery, harness, shoemaking and crafts.
“As the centre develops, Nick’s appointment gives us additional strength and experience within the team,” said executive director Patrick Burns. “I’m delighted to have him on board.”
