It’s free and “easy to follow.”
The SPILLERS brand has launched a free-to-use nutrition training hub for retailers.
With five online modules designed to improve nutrition know-how, it ends with a quiz and the chance to earn a Certificate of Completion.
AMTRA RAMAs/SQPs - people qualified to sell some animal medicines such as wormers - can obtain 12 CPD points by completing the six clinical conditions modules.

“Our new nutrition training modules are designed to help retailers become better equipped to support their customers with confidence and expertise,” said Vanessa Allen, nutrition content manager at Mars Horsecare, home of the SPILLERS brand.
“Whether a feed adviser working in a feed store, an equine studies student, or someone who is simply passionate about improving their equine nutrition knowledge, our training hub is for them, and it’s free to use.”
Modules cover market information with tips on category management, NOPS (naturally occurring prohibited substances), nutrients and their relationship with horse health and performance, clinical conditions and tailoring support, and feed categories.
Reviews from retailers
Juliet Holden at Carltons The Feed Merchants in North Tyne is among the first to sign up to the SPILLERS nutritional training.
“I really enjoyed it,” she says. “It gives a great overview of the feed market and nutrients needed by horses, as well as deeper explanations of different clinical conditions and what kind of feed would be best to manage them.
“The training was easy to follow and packed with practical advice to pass onto customers.”
Evie Faraday at Lancashire based Stanah Horse Feeds added: “I love how the modules are easy to follow, short but informative and helpful to pass knowledge onto our customers, and help increase our sales.
“The fact they’re split and not too long means we’ll have more chance of doing them during the busy times in store.”
