Harness-maker Catrien Coppens won the Bruce Emtage Memorial Plate for Best in Show at The Society of Master Saddlers’ Annual National Saddlery Competition.

This year’s event, held on 2 February at Saddlers’ Hall in London, marked The Society of Master Saddlers’ 60th anniversary.

Said Andrea Patterson, the society’s president: “This competition is not only a showcase of extraordinary talent but also a reminder of the legacy we are building for generations to come.”

The Les Coker Millennium Trophy for best entry by an Apprentice or Trainee was awarded to Tamara Hug for a Snaffle Bridle entered in the Open Bridle Class.

The Tony Byrne Memorial Trophy for the best Harness entry by an Apprentice or Trainee was awarded to Jake Mann for an entry in the Open Harness Class.

The Hazel Morley Trophy for the best entry by an Intermediate or Qualified Saddler was awarded to Katerina Marinkovic for a headcollar in the Intermediate Class.

The Tony Russell Memorial Trophy for the best Harness entry was awarded to Catrien Coppens for an entry in the Open Harness Class.

The Side Saddle Association Trophy for the best Side Saddle was awarded to Coralie Chung, presented by Jayne Pryor.

The Neil McCarraher trophy for the best Trade Saddle was awarded to Ideal Saddle Company.

The Ken Lyndon Dykes Perpetual Trophy for best entry in the President’s Choice Class was awarded to Jocelyn Danby for a saddle.

The Alf Batchelor Memorial Trophy for the best Bridle entry was awarded to Lisa Hoskins for an entry in the Open Bridle Class, presented by John Batchelor.

The Bruce Emtage Memorial Plate for Best in Show was awarded to Catrien Coppens for a harness.
