Callers are worried about a particular menace.

Balmy summer weather makes owning and riding horses enjoyable – for the most part.

However, a seasonal downside has promoted a deluge of calls to one supplier’s advice line.

“With the warm weather, we're seeing a real spike in customer queries relating to midge and fly menace,” says Kate Hore, NAF’s head nutritionist.

Sweet itch poses a particular challenge this summer.

“It looks like it's going to be a challenging summer for those prone to sweet itch.”

NAF’s Nutritional Advice line – which is free for stockists and their customers to call – has been inundated with callers asking how to deal with insect annoyance around horses.

“Getting the right approach can be tricky, and we're always happy to help,” adds Kate.

“Fly repellents, like NAF OFF Deet Power Performance, are a must for all horses and ponies - with nutritional support playing a key role for the particularly sensitive.”
