The UK’s best-known saddlery mentor is to lead the industry’s oldest institution for the next 12 months.
Mark Romain - who runs the Saddlery Training Centre and is training officer for the Society of Master Saddlers – has become Prime Warden of the Worshipful Company of Saddlers (Saddlers’ Company).
He was installed at a ceremony in Saddlers' Hall, the London home of the ancient but active Livery Company.
As its Prime Warden, Mark becomes the principal ambassador for the Saddlers’ Company, representing it across its charitable and educational activities.
"It’s a huge privilege and something I never dreamed would happen to me," he says.
“I’m still running the Saddlery Training Centre, with no plans to stop or retire, so it’s going to be a busy 12 months.”
The Worshipful Company of Saddlers was formed by Royal Charter in 1363. Today, it champions craftsmanship and promotes the British saddlery trade.
