“He’ll be missed by us all,” say colleagues.

Robin Lewis, Wynnstay’s equine business manager, has retired after 25 years with the retail group.

Robin Lewis, who has retired after 25 years with the Wynnstay Group, plans to spend more time with his horses. He’s pictured with Fruit Fayre, his winning point-to-point mare, and her rocking horse likeness.

He plans to spend more time with his family’s horses – and might even start riding again.

Before working in retail, Robin was a riding instructor in the Household Cavalry. When he left the army, he moved his family back to his roots in Newtown, Powys.

Here he started selling tack from a small shop as well as supplying feed to local horse owners for Wynnstay on a commission-only basis.

His success and business acumen were soon noted, and Robin was quickly snapped up by the retailer to grow its equine departments. And he has been with the company ever since.

“The Wynnstay equine staff would like to wish Robin all the very best for his retirement,” said equine product manager Mandy Dawkes.

“He will be missed by us all and will be remembered in the trade for being a true gentleman.”

With horses at home and his daughter running a point-to-point yard, Robin will be kept busy in retirement. It’s rumoured that he might even take to the saddle again too.
