“I’m passionate about horses, so I’m thrilled...”
Rebecca Middleton has joined the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) as admin assistant.
The University of York history graduate grew up in Harrogate, close to BETA’s head office in Yorkshire.

Rebecca went on to qualify and practice as a solicitor for four years, specialising in wills, probate and inheritance tax.
Having always ridden, she acquired her first pony in 2020. And now that love of horses has inspired her to leave the legal profession and pursue a fresh career path.
“I’m really enjoying it,” Rebecca told ETN during her first week at BETA.
“I’ve always been passionate about horses so I’m thrilled to be starting what I hope will be a long career in the equestrian industry.”
Rebecca’s admin assistant role involves supporting BETA members and helping organise the trade body’s numerous activities. She’s based full-time in the head office and works closely with BETA’s executive director, Claire Williams.
Outside work, Rebecca helps run the horse section at two local agricultural shows.
She has a “very spoilt” French Bulldog called Ralph and three guinea pigs plus a herd of four ponies – five-year-old Rocky, Cinderella (3) and recently arrived mare and foal Maisie and Monty.
Rebecca enjoys showing and TREC clinics with her ponies and hopes to learn to carriage drive too.
