“We don’t need to feel helpless.”
David ‘Monty’ Stuart-Monteith is to join an aid convoy taking medical and humanitarian supplies into Ukraine.
The managing director of distributor Shaws Equestrian will get behind the wheel of a pickup truck on 13 February.

His 1,300-mile drive across Europe before crossing the Ukrainian border to Lviv is expected to take three days.
The potentially hazardous journey – about which Monty gamely says “we’ll be protected from dangerous stuff” – falls just before the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion.
Monty needs to raise £9,000 to fund his trip, and hopes the equestrian industry will support his endeavour.
“Many people realise that the Ukrainian’s struggle for freedom against Russian aggression is also our struggle,” he told ETN.
“I want people in the trade to know that we can help the people of Ukraine by taking vehicles and medical equipment. We don’t need to feel helpless.”
Monty’s mission will be part of a wider initiative organised by Convoy4Ukraine, a well-established charity that organises regular aid runs by volunteers to the beleaguered country.
“Any contribution would be wonderful,” adds Monty. “Or any event to raise money.”
Once he arrives in Ukraine, Monty will join the Convoy4Ukraine team delivering vital supplies to those in need.
