“You never know when you might need them”
Norfolk retailer Sandons Saddlery has raised £2,250 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Jade Bell and Abbi Rollins from the store in Foulsham near Norwich organised a charity show and fun day at Weston Equestrian Centre, a local riding school and livery yard.
“It was a brilliant day and a real team effort,” Jade told ETN. “The riding centre is just ten minutes from the shop, so we all pitched in.”
As well as show jumping competitions, there were stalls offering everything from ice cream to face painting, a raffle and ‘guess how many horse treats in the jar.’ The yard’s liveries even made cakes to sell.
Sandons Saddlery gave away £100 worth of BETA show vouchers to winning competitors. Provided and paid for by the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA), vouchers can be redeemed at a sponsoring retail member’s outlet.
“We used them as prizes for first, second and third,” said Jade. “They’ve proved very popular and made for a great feel-good factor.”
The East Anglian Air Ambulance has its base at Norwich airport, close to Sandons Saddlery.
“We wanted to support them,” said Jade. “As riders, you never know when you may need them. Certainly, a few of our customers have needed to have them called out.”
