“We feel much more confident advising customers.”

Retailers say a training programme is making a difference to the conversations they have with customers in-store.

The SPILLERS brand launched its free online equine nutrition training hub in January.

Already, 28 participants have completed the whole course and received certificates to display in-store.

Retailers are giving the thumbs up to a free, online nutrition training course.

Across the platform, 274 modules have been completed – 172 of these by people collecting AMTRA CPD points, resulting in 344 points awarded.

The programme consists of five modules covering key areas of equine nutrition - market insights, prohibited substances (NOPS), nutrients, clinical conditions and feed categories.

Participants can test their knowledge through quizzes.

Samantha Christie from retailer Millbry Hill said: “The SPILLERS training has been so valuable for our team. The modules are easy to follow but packed with useful, practical knowledge and great for learning basics around nutrients.

“Since completing the training, we feel much more confident advising customers, and it’s already making a difference in the conversations we’re having in-store.”

Vanessa Allen from Mars Horsecare, home of the SPILLERS brand, said the training hub was suitable for a wide audience, from in-store feed advisors to equine students.

“And because there’s no cost involved, it’s fully accessible to everyone,” she added.
