“It’s a great achievement.”
GS Equestrian & Country is understood to be the first UK equestrian retailer to achieve ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification.
The Devon-based business has retailed clothing, equipment, nutrition and pet supplies online since 2017.
The internationally recognised ISO standards it has been awarded cover business operation and environmental management.
“These landmark certifications mark a significant step forward as GS Equestrian & Country continues its commitment to delivering the best online equestrian shopping experience built on quality, trust and sustainability,” said a spokesperson for the brand.
GS Equestrian & Country is a retail member of BETA (the British Equestrian Trade Association).
“Many congratulations - gaining ISO accreditation is a great achievement and a true team effort by everyone involved,” said Claire Williams from BETA.
“It’s a great example of a BETA member company working hard to set high standards within the industry.”
What is ISO?
ISO – a name inspired by the Greek word isos - is short for the International Organization for Standardization.
The non-governmental body was founded in London in 1946 with 67 technical committees and is now based in Switzerland.
ISO brings together global experts to agree on the best way of doing things – anything from making a product to managing a process.
It says that selling its standards allows ISO to finance their development and maintenance in an independent environment.
Standards requirements
ISO 9001 sets out requirements for consistency, accountability and continual improvement across business operations.
“For GS Equestrian & Country, this certification demonstrates a firm commitment to delivering reliable service, trusted products, and an enhanced customer experience,” says a spokesperson for the retailer.
ISO 14001 recognises the way businesses manage and reduce their environmental impact.
The spokesperson added that it “highlights GS Equestrian & Country’s dedication to sustainability, responsible resource management and supporting a greener future for the equestrian industry.”
