Transparency allows for easier interaction, says supplier.

Red Gorilla has launched a transparent face mask.

The SP (Social Protection) Mask has been developed in Spain. It has a plastic body with integrated filter offering more than 99% protection for eight hours.

“There’s something different and more comfortable about wearing a transparent mask, as we’ve found out trialling them here,” said Dean Cox, managing director of Leicestershire based tubs and tools specialist Red Gorilla.

“We believe it could really help us all feel a lot more comfortable about going out in public, shopping and interacting with others.”

Face coverings became compulsory in shops in England from last Friday (24 July) and have been mandatory in Scotland since 10 July. Shoppers are not required to wear them in Wales or Northern Ireland, though this may change.

SP Masks from Red Gorilla are available now. The RRP is £1.99.

“Retailers can offer them for free in certain situations like a body protector fitting,” suggests Mr Cox, “and/or they can be offered for sale.”
